It’s fair to admit that we’re a bit of fans of Wychood Brewery – they have not failed us during the years and we love pretty much every beer from their portfolio. This week we decided that it’s time to make a video review of their special ale called “King Goblin”. With an ABV of 6.6%, this is definitely a beer to remember. If you want to learn more about it, please watch the video below. We wish you a very hoppy new week! 🙂
This week we have more reasons to celebrate than in any other week of the year. Today we have the pleasure to say “Happy International Beer Day”, to raise a glass of beer and be joyful and happy.
It’s interesting to mention that in many countries, there’s a confusion over the date of this special occasion. Before 2012, the international beer day was celebrated on the 5th August. However, ever since then, it has been voted by beer lovers around the globe that it should be celebrated on the first Friday of each August. So, what’s the conclusion for 2015? International beer day is today – 7th August.
We love the three rules of this day (according to Wikipedia):
- To gather with friends and enjoy the taste of beer.
- To celebrate those responsible for brewing and serving beer.
- To unite the world under the banner of beer, by celebrating the beers of all nations together on a single day.
We will definitely do all these things and we recommend you do the same.
We also want to say: We love you, beer! It’s great that you have been invented! Thank you for the great moments you have given us! We will raise a glass in your honour! Happy International Beer Day, everyone!
How do you plan to celebrate? We accept photos, too!
We love the idea of having an #IPADay – a chance to look more closely Into one of our favourite beer styles and to learn more about it…

To celebrate the ocassion, we also found some fantastic historic articles about the great IPA. Here is one about IPA’s success across the globe and a brief history, if you’re into facts and figures. Ever wondered why IPA is called like that? Here is the answer.
From everyone at My Beer Experience – happy IPA day! Cheers!
Recently, we’ve decided that it will be a good idea if we gather our experiences of local Scottish brewing companies and share them with you in our blog.
The first brewery in focus is Ayr Brewing Company that we recently visited on our short trip to the town. It’s interesting to say that the brewery is based in an extension to a local hotel and if you didn’t know that beforehand you would probably miss it completely.
Here is how the guys from the brewery describe themselves: “The Ayr Brewing Company ia a 5 Barrel Micro Brewery situated in the heart of Rabbie Burns country. We are currently producing between 20 and 40 casks of Ale a week and supplying pubs in Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, South West Scotland and the North of England.” It’s impressive that for the time they have been around (since 2009, as far as we could see) these guys have achieved some great results, including winning a couple of SIBA Silver Medals for some of their brews.
The brewing process at Ayr Brewing Company is described very interestingly from the BeerCast guys, and here is what they had to say about they visit in the brewery.
Here are some of the beers you can get from the restaurant next door or if you order them online:
However, there are some special limited edition ales that you can’t find online and we bought a 1 liter bottle of one of them. (Hint, this special beer is made with watermelon!) Once we test it, we’ll make sure to upload a video review. During our visit to Ayr we also bought another three ales from the company’s portfolio which will also be reviewed shortly. We can’t say if what Ayr Brewing Company does is good or not, but we loved the fact that these guys are making something they really enjoy! More reviews and info soon!
Stewart Brewing is one of the great local breweries for the Edinburgh area of the country and we’re pleased to present one of their wonderful beers – “Radical Road”. If you want to find out more about the triple hopped pale ale and guess how we scored it, please watch the video presentation we’ve prepared for you. Thanks!
p.s. We’re going to dedicate a separate post to the great portfolio of beers Stewart Brewing has in the coming days!
This week we wanted to make a new type of beer video for you and here is what we’ve got… It’s a video containing five very interesting beer facts that you probably don’t know. The facts include the answers to some of the following questions: How many bottles are there in the biggest beer bottle collection? Which is the oldest operating brewery in the world? What’s the world record for drinking 1 litre of beer? If you want to find our the answers to these questions, please watch the video below
Let us know if you found it interesting and we’ll do more of these soon!
